Product Ranking

We have a complex system that determines the ranking of products in our marketplaces.

The main factors used:

  • Seller Level:

    • Based on overall sales across all categories and is the primary factor influencing product ranking.

    • Based on lifetime sales on the website

    • A higher seller level generally correlates with higher product ranking.

  • Category performance

    • Based on sales within the last 3 months in the specific category.

    • While each sale in this period is more significant, the seller level often plays a more decisive role in the overall ranking.

  • Community Rating:

    • Combines the reviews from buyer reviews and a seller's professionalism during disputes

    • Based on Reviews from the last 360 days and disputes from the last 180 days.

    • Buyer reviews carry a significantly greater value, as the average review rating matters 4x more than your Dispute Rating

    • Poor Community Ratings significantly lower a product's ranking.

  • Highlight Feature:

    • Gives a net bonus to the seller level for product ranking calculation

    • Adds a moderate multiplier to the final score as well.

  • Average Sell Price:

    • Based sales from last 3 Months

    • The average sell price is currently normalized at around 50$. This means lower prices won't significantly lower your product ranking, while higher average prices do result in better product ranking, however with diminishing returns. This approach ensures that the average sell price plays a noticeable role, while not overpowering the basic attributes such as seller level or community score.

    • This multiplier is necessary to account for sellers selling high-value products, but less of them - compared to seller selling cheap offers but many of them. This value is based on the average sell price, but is normalized to play only a secondary role in calculating the product weight.

Secondary Factors

  • Product Completion: Depending on the number of filter options not selected during product upload, the product may receive a minor penalty to its ranking score. Setting all filter options, even if 0 is entered as a number filter, for example, will remove any penalty applied.

  • Delivery Method: Manual Delivery Accounts receive a 0.9x Multiplier to their Ranking Score.

  • Primary / Secondary Game: At igitems you can upload products that are connected to several marketplaces at once. For example one product can appear both in the Clash of Clans & Brawl Stars marketplaces if they are connected through Supercell. The main game selected will be shown by default, and the product will have a 50% lower score in connected categories.

Simplified Product Calculation Equation

You can use the following equation to have a basic understanding of the system, but we do not believe that sharing exact values would bring much value to anyone, especially as they are subject to balance changes.

  • Base Rating = 'Seller Level' + 'Category Performance' + 'Highlight Bonus'

  • Modifiers = 'Community Rating Modifier' x 'Normalized Sell Price Modifier' x 'Highlight Bonus'

  • Final Rating = 'Base Rating' x 'Modifiers' x 'Secondary Factors'
