Seller-level plans

This was a highly requested change.

Beginning in July, seller levels will be updated to reflect lifetime income rather than the total number of sales.

To ensure fairness, we’ll aim to convert existing levels based on the median order value across all sales on igitems.

Product ranking

With this shift in how levels are calculated, the product ranking algorithm is also being updated to stay aligned.

What’s Staying the Same:

• Seller level remains a key ranking factor.

• Highlight status and community rating continue to influence placement.

What’s Changing:

• Recent Income in the category replaces the number of sales as the main performance metric

• Recent performance will be considered through a new popularity metric: Trending

New factor: Trending

Products from sellers who are gaining popularity in a category will receive a score boost. This helps surface high-quality sellers who are currently performing well, without penalizing top or veteran sellers who may have quieter periods.

Becoming less popular does not have a negative effect on your ranking! You can only be rewarded, not penalized, by this metric!

The effects are made to be mild & capped to make sure ranking doesn't become volatile.
